FAQ
I am an existing red ONE Mobile user. Can I still use my old plan and number?
Yes, existing customers can continue to use their current red ONE Mobile line with their current plan.
Can I sign up for more lines using the old red ONE Mobile plans?
No. We have discontinued signing up new customers on the old plans, as our new plans provide much better value.
Do you offer any free phones or device bundles like the other operators?
No, because in reality there is no such thing as 'free'. The costs are hidden in your monthly fees. By not providing any 'free' phones we are able to maintain the lowest prices and offer you the lowest commitment plan in the market.
What is 'Commitment Sharing' or 'Shared Usage Commitment'?
If you or your company have signed up for more than one line, the minimum amount payable (e.g. RM8) will be combined into a single pool which can be utilised by all lines under that account. This way the total minimum commitment value will be fully utilised, and you don't end up paying for what you don't use.
Your IDD rates are low compared to others. Is there a prefix or *xxx that I must dial before making an IDD call?
No. Our IDD uses premium links and is not a VoIP or call-back service with poor quality. Just dial the country code followed by the number.

What documents do I need to sign up?
You will need to complete our Registration Form, and complete and sign our Customer Agreement form. By law we also require a photocopy of your / company owner's IC, and company registration documents (if signing up as a corporate customer):
(i) For Malaysian companies: Form 24, Form 49, Form 9 or 13
(ii) For foreign companies: Form 79/80/80A/83/83A
(iii) Sole Proprietorship/Partnership: Forms D & A, Forms D & B
Can I switch to red ONE Mobile and keep my existing number?
Yes, you can keep the number you already have by applying for Mobile Number Portability (MNP).
How long will it take to activate my line?
New registration will take 1 -2 working days. If you are also applying for MNP, it will take 3 -5 working days.
I have been blacklisted by other mobile networks, can I apply for a red ONE postpaid account?
We understand that people (and telecommunication companies) make mistakes sometimes. We will be glad to sign you up, and all we ask is a deposit equal to the credit limit you request.
What is an MVNO and how come I have never heard of REDtone or red ONE?
An MVNO is a Mobile Virtual Network Operator". The 'virtual' means that we don't have our own mobile network and we use capacity from another provider. But we do everything else ourselves, such as marketing, product design, customer service, billing, etc. We are a relatively new company and we re-launched ourselves in mid-2012, and introduced the red ONE product name in 2013.
Do I need to sign up a minimum number of lines to enjoy the free calls or commitment sharing?
No. Unlike the others who enforce a minimum of 5 or 10 lines before you can enjoy these benefits, we let you save from as few as 2 lines under your account (if only 1 line, there's no one to share with!).
Do I need to pay anything else, apart from my monthly commitment fee?
Well, we do a ask for a deposit equivalent to 50% of your credit limit, but this money remains yours and will be refunded should you choose to terminate your line. There is also a one-off RM10 registration fee for Personal registrations, and an RM10 stamp duty charge (only applied to the Primary account – not applicable to subsequent lines added under the account).
How come you don't offer 'unlimited' data plans?
We would love to give our customers unlimited data usage for a flat fee. Unfortunately, all the mobile operators (not just in Malaysia, but worldwide) are pulling back their 'unlimited' offers and putting in place 'fair use' policies and caps on how much their customers can use. This is to lessen the burden on the data network, and to avoid the minority of people who use peer-to-peer applications and download HD movies, from taking up all the available bandwidth. A small minority should not spoil the internet experience for the larger majority. So we are forced to follow the global trend by our host network operator.
Many of my friends want to sign-up. Do I get anything for recommending and recruiting?

Fair Use Policy
  1. Introduction

    By registering, using and accessing red ONE Network Sdn Bhd (619094-D) ("red ONE") services as provided by red ONE ("Services"), the customer is bound and subject to the terms and conditions as contained herein.

  2. Purpose

    1. The Services are designed as a shared service and customers' activities will have an impact on other users using and sharing the same network. To ensure fairness and a good user experience for all redONE subscribers, red ONE has introduced and implemented a Fair Usage Policy, effective 1 November 2012.
    2. This Fair Usage Policy ("Policy") is designed to ensure that the Services received by the vast majority of customers are not negatively impacted because of extremely heavy usage and abuse by a minority of customers. red ONE shall continuously monitor network performance and may control the amount of free voice calls or the mobile data access rights of identified heavy users.
  3. Excessive Usage – Voice

    1. The 'unlimited free on-net calls' are granted as part of normal everyday mobile voice usage for individual consumers and business users. This service shall not be re-sold, rented or utilised in any other way except as an individual making calls to other red ONE users in the course of a normal day's activities and in line with average on-net call frequency and minutes per month.
    2. Customers who are found to be abusing the service, with call volumes exceeding 100 hours (6,000 minutes) a month, may have their rights to free calls suspended, or subsequent calls beyond 100 hours will be charged to the customer at the prevailing domestic off-net call rates.
    3. red ONE reserves the right to implement and enforce this policy, and modify or amend this 100 hour threshold if average on-net call volumes across the entire postpaid customer base increases, or decreases, over time.
  4. Excessive Usage – Data

    1. Software and applications which are used by you to send and/or receive, for uploading and/or downloading of files can contain very large amounts of data (e.g. Peer-to-Peer traffic like Bit Torrent or other similar file sharing applications). These software and applications demand a significantly huge amount of bandwidth which will negatively impact the speed and also cause network congestion. As a result thereof, a vast majority of customers will be affected from degradation of the quality of Service, and as such is deemed as excessive usage. Excessive usage can also be caused by spamming, virus activities, spy wares and/or other malwares which may reside in Customers' Devices. These activities may be known or unknown to you and normally operates in the background of the Devices' operations. Therefore, you must take all precautions and rightful actions to ensure that the above activities are controlled and minimized at all times. redONE reserves the right to implement and enforce the said Policy at its sole discretion upon occurrence of such activities.
    2. You will enjoy the Service depending on the plans or package subscribed. Each package or plan has a monthly usage volume allocation. The structures of volume and speed allocations for the various packages or plans offered by red ONE are as per Table 1 below:

    3. For example, if you subscribe to a 1GB Data Package, and exceed the monthly bandwidth volume allocation of 1 GB, red ONE will charge any subsequent usage at pay-per-use (PPU) rates with or without prior notice to you. Once your PPU utilization reaches 10GB, your data access will be slowed to a maximum of 64kbps, depending on user's location and current network conditions. Total charges for PPU usage will be fixed at a maximum of RM250 a month, even if there is additional usage. Customers are recommended to contact us and purchase further data bundles in order not to be overcharged as per PPU. For the subsequent month, your data volume allocation will be reset, enabling you to enjoy the initial speed allocation as per your subscription.
    4. Without limiting to the foregoing, red ONE, on a goodwill basis, may take the aforesaid measures by prior notification to you in the following circumstances: If you have reached 80% of the monthly allocation volume, depending on package or plans which are subscribed, an SMS notification will be sent to you; If you have reached 100% of the monthly allocation volume, a SMS notification will be sent to you as well.
    5. As with the original allocated volume, all additional volumes purchased shall be valid only until your next bill cycle date and beyond such dates, all unused volumes shall automatically expire and cannot be carried forward to the next month. On the bill cycle date, customer's speed will be unthrottled to the original subscribed speed and the volume will be reset to the original allocated volume of 1GB or any other volumes as per package subscribed.
    6. Notwithstanding the above, if you fail to receive any notification from red ONE, red ONE will still proceed to manage your speed and bandwidth if you have exceeded your volume allocation. Therefore, you must take the necessary measures to constantly monitor our usage.
    7. red ONE reserves the right to review upwards or downwards the volume allocation and speeds depending on package or plan without prior notice as per the above table. Nevertheless, such reduction or restriction of speed or bandwidth will not limit or stop your activities or usage of the Service.
    8. The data volume calculation shall take into consideration of ALL activities carried out by you including those knowing or unknowingly done under the Service.
    9. The responsibilities and onus of proving shall be on you to ensure that the Devices which are free from all viruses , spybots and malwares when using the Service. red ONE reserves the right to release any information if it is required to do so by any law, regulatory body or court of law.
  5. Variation and Amendments

    1. red ONE reserves the right to vary the terms and conditions of this Policy from time to time with or without notice to the customer and the customer shall be bound by such variation and changes.

    2. This Policy is supplemental and shall be read together as an integral part of the terms and conditions governing the Services and any relevant addendums. If there is any inconsistency between this Policy and the terms and conditions of the Services, the terms and conditions governing the Services as posted at www.redone.com.my will prevail.
